Storm Cleanup Update from Charbonneau Country Club:
We wanted to give everyone an update on the cleanup process from the historical ice storm of February 12-13. Our first priority was safety. The City and its contractor, City Wide Tree Service, removed dangerous hanging limbs and cleared access roads for emergency response. Nathan with Good News Tree Service donated their time on Saturday to help clear the large trees that had fallen in several locations.
The next step was to open both lanes of French Prairie Drive. All of this was accomplished by the end of last week.
Now, the process is evaluation and setting of priorities.
- During the next two weeks, City Wide Tree Service, will continue to work along French Prairie and Miley Roads to cut and prune the oak trees. We have over 950 trees along French Prairie.
- As they complete their work, our contractor, Pacific Landscape will be removing the cut branches. It is more efficient to use a grappler, so this will take at least two and maybe three more weeks to clear.
- The last project will be to grind the stumps on the 5 trees that completelyfell.
- The city’s public works department will then be able to work on the broken street lights and damaged signs.
We urge caution since trucks will be on French Prairie and Miley Road for the next several weeks. They will need to close lanes and in some cases, re-route traffic.
We urge patience. This is a big job and our contractor will be bringing in additional crews but it will still take time.
Our property manager, Rick Schram, surveys the entire community daily but if you see something that is dangerous, please let the CCC office know.
Message from Charbonneau Golf Club:
The recent winter storm has caused major damage to all three nine-hole golf courses here at Charbonneau.
There are many trees with broken, hanging branches that could fall anytime due to wind or even just gravity. These are extremely dangerous!
Because of the potential danger, the RED Course – and all the golf courses – are closed to walkers.
