Are you living with or caring for someone who has dementia? Are you looking for answers regarding how best to care for them and for yourself? Does the future feel uncertain, not knowing what it will take to care for your loved one (and yourself), physically, medically, emotionally, and financially? Please join Scott Lichtenstein, dementia specialist and group facilitator for lively discussions on dementia care information and resources, caregiver training and more. Meet New People at the Community Center Nutrition Program
The Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer a weekday lunch program at the Wilsonville Community Center. Lunch is served Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at noon. The nutrition program is a great way to grab a nutritious, great tasting meal while meeting new people. Don’t have transportation? Not a problem! Contact SMART at 503-682-7790 to get informationabout their Dial-a-Ride service. Recommended donations are $3.50 for those 60 and over or $4.25 for those under 60.
Diabetes Support Group
When you, someone you love, or a family member has been diagnosed with any form of diabetes, it can be overwhelming. Attending a diabetes support group is a proactive way to find support and learn tools that can be used as part of an integrated approach to diabetes management. Estate Planning 101
Attorney Michael Rose of Rose Elder Law, will share estate planning basics such as wills, trusts, probate, powers of attorney, advance directives, and Medicaid Planning. Long Term Care 101
Long Term care is affordable! Attorney Michael Rose of Rose Elder Law, will give more information about Medicaid planning, preserving and protecting assets, and veteran’s benefits. Class Spotlight – Beginning Tai Chi Chih
Tai Chi Chih is an evidence-based mindfulness practice: a non-martial form consisting of 19 flowing movements and a closing pose. The movements are designed to balance and circulate our chi; unifying body, mind and spirit. These simple movements can be done standing or sitting and require no special clothing. Tai Chi Chih reduces stress while increasing energy, balance and focus. This 6-session course on Wednesdays, March 4 through April 8 from 10:55 am – 11:55 am at the Wilsonville Community Center. Cost for the course is $40. Please pre-register.
New Class Alert! – Beginner Watercolor
Instructor Elaine Luneke will cover all of the basics and give attention to beginners needs. No question will be too small, in fact, loads of questions will be encouraged. Come get together with others learning watercolor from the ground up. The class will meet on Mondays, March 9 – April 13, from 1 – 3 pm at the Wilsonville Community Center. Indoor Walk and Fit
Come out of the cold, wet weather and enjoy a warm place to get some exercise. In addition to having a walking course set up there will be an area for stretching and a few strength building exercises. This drop-in program will take place on Mondays and Fridays through March 20 from 1:30-2:30pm at the Wilsonville Community Center. There is no charge for participation.
AARP Tax Assistance
Appointments are now being taken for Free AARP Income Tax assistance at the Wilsonville Parks and Recreation Admin Office. Income tax preparation and electronic filing for both 2019 Federal and State Returns will be provided with the joint help of the IRS and AARP Tax-Aide Program. This free service is provided by trained and certified IRS-AARP Tax Aid Volunteers.
