Dementia Caregiver Support Group
Are you living with or caring for someone who has dementia? Are you looking for answers regarding how best to care for them and for yourself? Does the future feel uncertain, not knowing what it will take to care for your loved one (and yourself), physically, medically, emotionally, and financially? Please join Scott Lichtenstein, dementia specialist and group facilitator for lively discussion, dementia care information and resources, caregiver training and more. The group will meet the first Monday of each month from 10:30 am to noon at the Wilsonville Community Center. Knitting with Alice – Stacked Chevron Scarf
Instructor Alice Knox offers personalized instruction in a fun group setting. Stacked chevron is a simple but striking colorwork scarf pattern that uses gradient yarn for great effect. It is knit in the round with an easy to memorize chevron pattern, making it an easy and relaxing project. This 7-week course takes place on Wednesdays, November 6 through December 18 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the Wilsonville Community Center. Cost for the course is $40.
MahJong Drop In
The Community Center is excited to offer drop in Mahjong on Wednesday afternoons. The group will meet from 1:00 – 4:00 pm and there is no charge to participate. Interested players are encouraged to bring a playing set if they have one to accommodate additional participants.
Indoor Walk and Fit
Come out of the cold, wet weather and enjoy a warm place to get some exercise. In addition to having a walking course, there will be an area for stretching and a few strength building exercises. This program will take place on Mondays and Fridays from 1:30 – 2:30 pm at the Wilsonville Community Center. There is no charge, just drop in!
Weight Loss Support Group
Have you ever felt you needed motivation, encouragement, and quality education about losing weight? The goal of this group is to build a community around helping people navigate their path towards becoming healthier by losing weight and increasing physical activity in their lives. If you have tried to lose weight, you know the challenge is staying on track. Many weight loss programs can work, but what’s crucial is commitment, support, and accountability. Group members will be able to rely on each other to help with inspiration and the belief they can sustain motivation and be successful. For more information, contact Brad Moore at 503-570-1522. The group meets on Mondays from 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm at the Wilsonville Community Center. There is no charge.
Preventing Internet Scams Lecture
As more of our population has become accustomed to using the internet, criminals have found unique ways to cause harm. In most cases, the driving force is to steal money from unsuspecting victims. Community Tree Lighting and Toy Drive
Join the City of Wilsonville for the 6th annual Community Tree Lighting at Town Center Park on Wednesday, December 4 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. There will be cookies, cocoa, holiday carols by local students, Story Time with the Wilsonville Library, crafts, and a visit from Santa as we light the community tree for the holidays.
Interested in helping out those in need this season? Please bring a new unwrapped toy to the Parks and Recreation Admin Building before Friday, December 13 and they will be distributed to those less fortunate within the local community.
