Summer Events
The City of Wilsonville is proud to offer a number of free summer events. The Friday night Movies in the Park series held at Memorial Park includes two August features suitable for the entire family. The lawn opens at 8:15 pm, and the movies begin at dusk on an inflatable screen at the River Shelter. Community members are invited to bring their short lawn-chairs, blankets and picnic snacks for watching the show. August 9 will feature ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ and August 23, ‘Mary Poppins Returns’.
The third annual Community Block Party features a live concert performance from country artist Britnee Kellogg on Thursday, August 15, 5-8 pm at Town Center Park. Guests can enjoy free burgers and hot dogs (while supplies last), as well as train rides, a 3-D chalk art installation, a photo booth and other interactive activities, including the first Family Friendly Bike Ride, a 20-minute neighborhood ride that departs from the Town Center Park fountains at 6 pm.
These City-hosted activities represent just a few of the many community events in store for Wilsonville residents and visitors this summer, including the Wilsonville Rotary concert series (beginning July 18), Fun in the Park (August 3), Wilsonville Brewfest (August 10) and other events throughout the summer.
A list of community events can be found in the Boones Ferry Messenger on the City’s website at ci.wilsonville.or.us/calendar. A summer events poster, included in the June issue of The Boones Ferry Messenger, is available at City Hall.
Take the Right Steps ~ Fall Prevention
Fall prevention strategies can help reduce the number of accidental falls suffered by older people. Falls and fall related injuries are among the most serious and common medical problems experienced by older adults. Nearly one-third of older persons fall each year, and half of them fall more than once.
If you have fallen, or if you have a fear of falling, this workshop is for you! The free seminar will take place on Monday, September 16 from 12:45 to 2:00 pm at the Wilsonville Community Center. There is no charge but please call 503-570-1526 to pre-register.
BINGO at the Community Center
The Wilsonville Community Center will host a free BINGO game on the third Wednesday of each month at 12:45 pm. There is no charge to play and winners will receive fun prizes!
