May 31, 2023 — Through two annual grant programs, the City of Wilsonville recently allocated about $40,000 in funding to support local programs, events and attractions that bring the community together and attract visitors to Wilsonville.

The Community Cultural Events and Programs (CCEP), (which updates the former Community Tourism Grant program), provides funding to spark participation in local cultural programming.  The program supports local non-profits in the development of projects, programs, and/or events that promote arts, culture, history and heritage.

Up to $25,000 is allocated from the City’s general fund each year. The following allocations were recommended by the Arts, Culture and Heritage Commission in April, and approved by the City Council this month:

  • Charbonneau Arts Association, $2,080 for the purchase additional materials for expanded student art gallery space during Charbonneau Festival of the Arts;
  • Oregon Old Time Fiddlers’ Association District 7, $9,000 to host fiddle contest and community jam session performances and events;
  • Wilsonville Public Library Foundation, $7,416 for a StoryWalk consisting of signs that hold pages of children’s books, which can be rotated throughout the year, and;
  • Wilsonville Rotary Foundation, $6,500 for the Wilsonville Rotary Summer Concert series.

The Community Opportunity Grant program provides up to $25,000 each year from the City’s general fund to support projects and services that promote education, diversity, arts, or community involvement within Wilsonville.

The following allocations were recently made by the Parks & Recreation Board:

  • Austin Barnes, $2,095 for Skate Jam 2023, a free skate event at the Memorial Park skatepark on Aug. 12. The 1 pm event includes giveaways.
  • Wilsonville Little League, $5,059 to support the Oregon Little League State Majors Tournament at Memorial Park, starting July 14;
  • Wilsonville Wildcat Fastpitch Softball, $7,636 in program support.
