American Association of University Women Lake Oswego invites the public to the free (no tickets needed) presentation by Labor Economist and Portland State University Professor Emerita of Economics Dr. Mary King:  “Taking on Economic Inequality to Advance All Women.”  The location is Oswego Heritage House, 398 10th St. Lake Oswego at 10:00 a.m. on March 11, 2017.

Dr. King’s research has focused on the keys to economic equality for women, people of color and people from low-income families.  As the recipient of the AAUW Postdoctoral American Fellowship 2006-2007, she researched Mexican women immigrants in the U.S.  Her research also covers other areas including the social aspect of sustainability, the dynamics of ethnicity and gender in the labor market and economy, and student debt policy.

The accomplished researcher and educator has served as Chair of the PSU Economics Department, President of the PSU American Association of University Professors (AAUP), and President of AAUP Oregon.  Dr. King is a member of the board of the Oregon Center for Public Policy and was a founding board member for Family Forward Oregon.
